Achieving Energy Security in Central Asia

 

Speaker: Dr. Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary is an Associate Professor of Economics at Tokai University and a Visiting Professor at Keio University in Japan. He is a grantee of the Excellent Young Researcher (LEADER) status from the Ministry of Education of Japan (MEXT). In addition, he is a visiting professor at Chiang Mai University (Thailand) and a distinguished research fellow at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). Dr. Taghizadeh-Hesary is a co-founder and Vice president at The International Society for Energy Transition Studies -ISETS (Australia). He is the editor of Cogent Business & Management journal and associate editor/board member of Singapore Economic Review, Global Finance Journal, Frontiers in Energy Research, Energy Efficiency journals. He authored more than 180 academic journal papers and book chapters and edited 12 books published by Springer Nature, Routledge, World Scientific, and Asian Development Bank Institute. He is a current/past guest editor of several journals, including Energy Policy, Energy Economics, Resources Policy, Economic Analysis and Policy, Journal of Environmental Management, Climate Change Economics, Finance Research Letters, Journal of Economic Integration, and Economic Change and Restructuring.

The primary purpose of this webinar is to assess the role of renewable energy in achieving energy security. In addition, a scientific method for quantifying energy security will be presented that could be used by governments for setting their energy security goals.
